Have you started switching out your incandescent light bulbs to the cfl bulbs yet?!! Why not?!! Did you see my post about how my family can save almost $160 per year by taking the GE Lighting energy smart® Challenge?!! I was hoping to encourage my family and friends to gather up a large food donation for our area food bank and spread the word about how GE Lighting can help save money and energy – and we can use that money to do good for the children in our community!!
Finding those in need
Our Mission: To reduce hunger by providing food, support and education to those in need with passion and efficiency.
I have talked a lot about how my family has had to use the food bank in the past and there is nothing I love more than to give back to them. I know the way it feels when you have to ask for help and I want others to be able to continue to use these resources. When Hubby and I had to go to the food bank, we were also looking for ways to get back on our own feet. We could have used advice like how to lower our utility bills such as taking the GE energy smart Challenge.
I also know that if I had been told that part of the solution would be to replace all of the light bulbs in our house, I would have rolled my eyes and laughed because there is no way I could have done that in our situation. That is why I am donating GE Lighting light bulbs, food, and knowledge to the food bank this go 'round!!

This is the first part of my donation that I am taking to the food bank and I'm hoping to continue to gather from friends and family. I mentioned last time that I am sending my second $20 coupon to my sister so she can reduce her energy bill as well and I'm planning to continue picking up a package of bulbs every time we go to Walmart throughout November!! Let's see – once a week (at least), for 6 weeks – that's a lot of light bulbs!! I am also providing the food bank with the flyer linked below so they can put this information in all of the packages that they hand out – and I am spreading the word!!

Head up a food drive – or any type of donation that will benefit the children in your own community – include some GE Lighting light bulbs – replace the bulbs in your own home – and report it all on the Champions for Kids website. They want to know that YOU are helping, too!!
